The acknowledgement of the success of the iPhone 4 is something that will not be too difficult, but acknowledging the same as of now is very difficult. This is because the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S2 has brought about a sea change in the high-end smartphone segment. No longer is the iPhone 4 considered as the benchmark of the segment in many regards, which it clearly was a few years ago. The iPhone 4 has been around for more than a year, and it is about time that a replacement model was launched by Apple in order to protect its interests in the high-end smartphone segment.
The iPhone 5 will be the model that is all set to replace the iPhone 4. This phone will be a totally new design, which is very much on the replica of the iPhone 4. The iPhone 4 was extremely different from the iPhone 3GS, and the iPhone 5 seems to be no different from this. It is highly likely that it will no longer be using the glass and plastic body, while it is almost sure that the same design element for the antenna will not be provided on the iPhone 5. It was subject to a lot of criticism on the iPhone 4, which is going to be sold as a cheaper version on the similar basis of the iPhone 3GS.
The 3.5 inch display is probably the one feature that has remained constant since the arrival of the iPhone in the mobile phone industry back in 2007. As a result, the size of the phone has also remained extremely constant, despite other mobile phones witnessing an increase in the overall size. However, the iPhone 5 will be attempting to increase the display, which is becoming a source of concern due to the competitors, who are now coming with 4.3 inch displays or even greater. In such a scenario, the 3.5 inch display will be at a great disadvantage for the iPhone 5, which is clear the reason for Apple working on the prospect of improving the display. However, it is easier said than done because the increase of the display size will be initially met with a resultant increase in the size of the phone, but Apple has been extra cautious so far in not doing so.
They seem to have gone the extra length in order to ensure that this policy remains in the iPhone 5 as well. In order to do so, Apple has had to work out an ingenious way – borrowing the edge to edge display technology found in the television sets. Apple has been able to increase the screen size by 0.2 inches just by adopting this technology. The iPhone 4 provided a five megapixel camera, which is likely to be increased to the eight megapixel unit in the iPhone 5. It is much expected that the iPhone 5 will be formally announced by Apple later in September, with the pre-orders for this incredible phone set to begin in October.
